How To Show Up Confident And Clear In Video

How To Show Up Confident And Clear In Video

I was standing on stage in front of 80 of my peers at a year-long #speaker training course. I forgot my name. I had no words. Not even a sound.

It wasn’t until I enrolled in improv school that I actually improved my ability to open up and speak in front of an audience.

I’ve never been shy of the spotlight. I skated in ice shows from 2-12 years old and was captain of my high-school dance team and taught kickboxing aerobics at university.

The problem was my self-talk.
I remember completing a skit in an Improv 201 class. The trainer was giving us notes on what a partner and I had just done. I couldn’t hear a word because I was beating myself up in my head.

I left class that day profoundly aware of how unrealistic my expectations were of myself. “This is 201, Jenn. Not SNL. Cut me some slack.”

It’s important to catch that conversation in your mind and make peace with that mean girl (if only for a short time) before stepping out on the stage or in front of a camera. Otherwise, you won’t be present with your audience, you’ll struggle to connect and your message won’t come across as confident and clear.

Need some help showing up in your videos as you do in real life? I can help. Check out a single session with Jenn.
